Early Life and Education

Luna grew up in Virginia and began dancing at the age of 2. She danced competitively throughout her youth, attending various workshops, intensives, and ballet training programs. She earned titles such as Junior Miss Dance of Virginia, Teen Miss Dance of Virginia, and placed in the top 5 at Dance Masters of America National Title Competition. In her final year of high school, she was named “The Distinguished Young Woman of Virginia.”

After graduating early, Luna moved to Philadelphia at the age of 16 to attend The University of the Arts under a Presidential Scholarship. Recognized for her excellence in tap and tap choreography, she was awarded The LaVaughn Robinson Tap Award. She graduated a semester early, summa cum laude, with a B.F.A. in Ballet Performance.

Professional Career

Following college, Luna moved to New York City to dance for RWS Entertainment Group. She joined the inaugural cast of a new line of shows aboard Holland America Cruise Line, performing as a dancer and aerialist while sailing the Mediterranean and Baltic Seas.

After her time at sea, Luna began teaching dance and acrobatics full-time in New York City. She taught at various schools, studios, and children’s programs across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. During this period, Luna taught around 30 classes a week to students and adults of all ages in a variety of styles, including ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, hip hop, contemporary, creative & developmental movement, gymnastics, and yoga. She also started acro programs at multiple dance schools and completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training and certification.

Transition to Burlesque and Show Production

Thinking she had left performing behind, Luna moved to the Pacific Northwest, where she continued to teach dance. In 2021, Luna began taking dance classes again as a student and her love for performance was reignited. In 2022, Luna resumed performing and began her burlesque career.

Since then, Luna has created over 25 burlesque acts that uniquely showcase a wide range of dance styles, including tap, hip hop, and acrobatics. She has performed duets with artists like Resa la Revv, Solar Rae Knight, Lily McDaniel, Evie Graham, and her partner, James London. Luna has performed in a variety of local shows, including Sinferno Cabaret, Nevermore, Siren’s Cove, Chaos Lab, Fusion, Burlesque Over Broadway Spectacular, The Belle Supper Club, Jack London Burly Q Revue, Sip ’n’ Strip Holiday Spectacular, Silent Night Naughty Night, Moulin Scrooge, Storyville Confidential, Starting Point, Burlynomicon, For Love & Lust (Orcas, WA), Posh Oddity (Eugene, OR), and the Pacific Northwest Burlesque Festival (Olympia, WA).

In December 2023, Luna founded her production company Luna Lynn Day Presents and debuted her first self produced show The Naughty List. This holiday cabaret show received rave reviews, showcasing Luna's talent as a producer, choreographer, director and performer. She quickly followed it up with Girl Crush, a sold out Valentine's-themed burlesque revue. Luna is currently working on a new production, The Roaring 2020s, a Jazz Age variety show featuring dance, singing, live music, aerial, tap, and all that jazz! Two shows are scheduled for Saturday, August 24th at The Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, OR. Mark your calendar and CLICK HERE to read more about it.
